“I always enjoyed cooking and all aspects of food. At age 27, I know I still have a lot of work to do, but it is always good to know that I have the support of C-CAP as I go on to achieve my goals. I’m Stacy Goodar from C-CAP class of 2009. I’ve been cooking since I was 16 and love every moment of it. I have a lot of late nights and early mornings that will eventually pay off someday so I’m not ready to give up. I graduated from Dunbar Career Academy in 2009 and I obtained an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from Washburne Culinary Institute in 2013.
I currently work at the Loews Hotel Chicago in downtown Chicago as a banquet cook in Garde Manger. I’ve been there for 2 1/2 years and this being my first hotel position, I plan on staying and giving it my all. It gives me a lot of insight into hotel/food service operations and the hospitality industry as I plan to purse my bachelor’s degree in hospitality management. Working at the Loews Hotel also helps me keep my creativity because we make (almost) everything from scratch, which I love.
Most of the culinary experiences I have came through C-CAP and it has truly been one of my best resources. It is also great to see other C-CAP alums achieving theirs goals and making moves. It’s definitely motivating, and makes me push myself that much more. I am thankful to have C-CAP in my corner as I continue my journey in culinary arts.”
Stacy Goodar continues to be involved with C-CAP as an alum. To date, Stacy has helped three different alums with employment opportunities at the Loews Hotel Chicago.
