Melinda Hudson is a 2005 graduate of the C-CAP Washington, D.C. region program. She has been working with C-CAP D.C. Region Chef Coordinator Troy Williams as a Retail Manager with Sodexo Magic at Howard University Hospital for the last 10 years. She reached out to Chef Troy upon graduating from The Culinary Institute of America in 2007 after receiving her Associates Degree via a Full-Tuition Scholarship from C-CAP.
Chef Troy recently recommended Melinda for a part-time teaching position for the local school system here in Washington, DC. We are happy to say that Melinda is now a culinary instructor at Ballou Senior High School here in the district. Ballou Senior High School is currently a participating C-CAP school and we’re truly happy for Melinda and her students are happy to have her.
“C-CAP provided me with skills and access to a full two-year scholarship at the Culinary Institute of America. Being in the program gave me a sense of not just belonging, but it provided me with a family away from home. As a graduate of C-CAP I was able to obtain immediate employment in the healthcare food service industry, which is a very competitive market.”
