Karen Vargas graduated from Swenson Arts & Technology High School in 2009 and received her A.A.S in Hospitality and Culinary Arts from the Community College of Philadelphia in 2012. Most recently, Karen graduated from Drexel University with a B.S. in Hospitality Management thanks to the C-CAP Drexel Transfer Scholarship.
Karen chose culinary and hospitality management thanks to her upbringing. Having a large house, her family continually had guests over and Karen really enjoyed getting to know the new people coming in and out and loved making them feel at home.
During high school when Karen competed for C-CAP, the competition helped her develop self-discipline, become more determined in what she wanted, and get out of her shell to meet new people. For her college career, C-CAP assisted her in her dream of completing her bachelor’s degree at Drexel University. Karen was rejected for taking out loans and had few options left when it came to completing her degree, and she was glad that C-CAP was there to help her out.
After college, Karen maintains her relationship with C-CAP to continually build her network, volunteering at programs such at the Preliminary Competition.
