Above, is our rising senior C-CAP student Jade Stone of Friendly High School in Temple Hills, Maryland. Last summer, she participated in our annual summer job training internship program and worked at Bobby Van’s Grill in DC. Jade did a tremendous job while working this past summer and is really looking forward to pursuing a career in baking/pastry.
This past week, Jade received news of her first college acceptance from The Culinary Institute of New York at Monroe College. We are proud of Jade and can’t wait to share more success stories of the DC Region Program as they arise.
DC Students Visit Monroe College!
On Thursday, November 29th, our DC Region Program took a select bunch of juniors and seniors to New Rochelle, NY to tour Monroe College on Friday, Nov. 30th. The evening before the day of tour, we dined in Harlem at the historic Sylvia’s Soul Food Restaurant. Picture taken by our very own Rebecca Travis who joined us for dinner. Our C-CAP teachers really enjoyed her company and were full of questions related to scholarships, reimbursements, etc.
The day of tour, Dr. Frank Costantino welcomed the group and started the tour with an amazing cooking demo before heading to their State Championship with his student competitors. Our tour guide did a great job taking everyone around the campus even showing them the dorm life!
