About C-CAP

Co-chaired by chef, author, and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson, Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) is a national non-profit that empowers underserved youth through the discipline of the culinary arts. Through its job training, internships, career and college advising, scholarships, and more, C-CAP prepares and mentors high school students for a bright future. C-CAP provides educational and career opportunities and connects students to the workplace.

  • 15,000 high school students around the country are served annually
  • 2,000+ students participate in C-CAP’s Career Awareness and Exploration Programs where they meet professionals, experience a professional workplace, and learn about careers, expectations, and pathways they can take.
  • Hundreds of students complete C-CAP’s intensive Job Training and Internships Program where they strengthen their culinary skills, gain important personal, professional, and job-seeking skills, and obtain a paid internship.
  • 95% of C-CAP interns successfully complete their paid internship.
  • Each year over 150 students receive scholarships, totaling nearly $3 million.
  • Hundreds of youth receive one-on-one college advising in high school and during their post-secondary education experience.

C-CAP alumni are working in your favorite restaurants around the country and have become restaurant owners, executive chefs, executive pastry chefs, and private chefs. Others have gone on to compete on television cooking shows like Top Chef, Chopped, Food Network Star, Beat Bobby Flay, and Last Chance Kitchen. Countless C-CAP alumni are guiding and mentoring the next generation of culinarians.
