Spiced Orange Salad from the Karachi Kitchen Benefit Dinner.

  • On Sunday, March 25, program supporters Eydie and Ed Desser hosted an intimate dinner for eighteen in their lovely home in Santa Monica, CA with Chef Kausar Ahmed. Chef Kausar Ahmed cooked dishes from her new cookbook, The Karachi Kitchen, and gave a demonstration to guests with the assistance of C-CAP LA alum, Chris Santos and San Fernando High School students George P. and Lizette A. There were many new faces that attended, and we look forward to their continued support of C-CAP LA.
  • C-CAP LA has been invited to participate in this year’s LA Times Food Bowl’s event, Changing the World Through the Power of Food on Tuesday, May 1 at The Wiltern. The event will feature a cooking competition and a panel discussion on food waste and sustainability. Chef José Andrés will join Jonathan Gold and special guests Zooey Deschanel, Ron Finley, Susan Feniger, and Tim Kilcoyne for a conversation on the power of food. Thank you to Robert Egger and LA Kitchen for inviting C-CAP LA to participate. C-CAP will have a booth with information about the organization along with small bites for guests to enjoy prepared by students from Arroyo High School. Students from Arroyo along with staff will be on hand to talk about all things C-CAP.
