We’re excited to be working with US Foods in creating career readiness opportunities for our students this summer and in the coming school year.
We’ll also be working with the For the Love of Chocolate Foundation (FTLOCF) during the Taste of Lincoln Avenue July 28 and 29 where we will be selling chocolates and pastries alongside C-CAP alumni to raise money for the FTLOCF that supports C-CAP alumni in Chicago with scholarship opportunities.
All three of the summer After School Matters programs are up and running, with each program incorporating Job Training. The Advanced Program will exclusively focus on soft skills, such as interviewing and resume writing, in preparation for a summer internship.
This year’s College 101 workshop in Chicago was generously hosted by US Foods. The students prepared lunch with US Foods Corporate Chefs and had a great discussion about college life with C-CAP alum and current Kendall College student Jefferson Martinez-Rodriguez.
On Jun 28, Chicago alumni hosted their first annual Alumni BBQ and Scholarship Winner Trunk Party, where guests set up the college-bound C-CAPers with essential items for school. We were generously hosted by Chef de Cuisine Willie Wagner fromHonkey Tonk BBQ. We had an amazing time celebrating our 2018 scholarship winners and enjoying a perfect summer night in Chicago! We’re ever grateful for the support of our alumni and their families.
C-CAP once again partnered with ProStart in Chicago for the spring Teacher Workshop and end of the year celebration at Bub City and Three Dots and a Dash. In this workshop, C-CAP teachers learned about Polynesian cuisine and Tiki-style beverages.
