Whisked – stories of food and culture.
The story of Ham Hung Restaurant is one of legacy. Nestled in LA’s Koreatown, our friend Ellen Oh’s grandfather opened Ham Hung in 1985 after immigrating to California a mere decade before. Ellen’s parents now own and operate the restaurant and she offers her own experience and expertise to nurture the family business. The restaurant is known for its speciality, #naengmyeon, a delicious North Korean cold noodle made here from scratch and to order. Few specialize in the laborsome dish — one Ellen’s father perfected and Eater LA noted as “brilliant”. Here, on a day her grandmother is at the door greeting customers, Ellen takes us behind the scenes at Ham Hung.
