? If you’re based in and around the New York metro area, apply to become a Beard House Fellow! Applications for the next round of Fellows are now open until August 14.
The James Beard Foundation Fellows program, presented by Capital One, has provided training and professional development to help talented emerging chefs take the next step in their careers. Fellows take courses in financial and business skills, media training, wine knowledge, and more, and cap their residency by developing their own Beard Box, a curated meal kit available for purchase nationwide.
C-CAP MAKES THE NEW YORK TIMES
Speaking of the James Beard Fellows program, The New York Times‘ Florence Fabricant included that C-CAP alums are a major pipeline for the fellows program. We are especially proud to see C-CAP alum Adijatu Jalloh featured in the New York Times piece, featuring her delicious African-fusion meal kit, now available for delivery. Shop the meal: ginger-scallion prawns, berbere-spiced cauliflower, wheatberry salad, peanut sauce, crispy shallots, and cheesecake with strawberry compote!

THE PASSING OF A WONDERFUL MAN
It is with great sadness that we announce to the C-CAP family that one of our longtime supporters, Dick Cattani, passed away earlier this summer. As the CEO of Restaurant Associates, an invaluable C-CAP partner, Cattani helped ensure the restaurant and hospitality industry was an equitable and dynamic one. This transformational leader was a great friend of C-CAP’s Richard Grausman as well as former board chair Tim Zagat, and will be missed by all of us.

STUDENT JOB TRAINING
C-CAP Arizona teachers kick off planning for the new school year at US Foods in Phoenix! Meanwhile, C-CAP Los Angeles teachers headed to The SoCal Gas Energy Resource Center for their 2022/23 kick-off. Meantime, Job Training grads were placed into paid summer internships at Gasolina Cafe, Jon & Vinny’s, Jonathan Beach Club, Knife Pleat, Mes Amis, Mozza Restaurant Group, Otium, Redbird, Rossoblu, and The Rose Venice! After C-CAP DC Region hosted their summer job training workshop, all of our students are working paid summer internships working in either FOH or BOH positions in restaurants across the region. C-CAP DC also celebrated their teachers during the Spring Teacher Professional Development. Teachers play a huge roll in the C-CAP Program and without them, we wouldn’t have all of our awesome C-CAP students. |
