Take a Baking Class with Buttercream Bake Shop, indulge in tasting menus at José Andres’ Jaleo and China Chilcano; chow down at D.C.’s best barbecue joint 2fifty BBQ; and more!
We hope to see some of you on October 9 at The Harvest Moon Feast, C-CAP Arizona’s fundraiser featuring dozens of star chefs and C-CAP alums and students! Don’t miss the Edible Phoenix latest edition dedicated to the event and downloadable, here!
BROTHER LUCK’S MUST-READ MEMOIR
Get out your Kleenex to watch Brother Luck’s appearance on the Rachael Ray Show and to read his new memoir, No Lucks Given. This C-CAP alum’s story of hardship mixed with grit and perseverance is an inspiring and incredible read!
We kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with Tres Leches Cake — a layer of sponge soaked with three variations of milk and topped with a thick layer of whipped cream. We hope you love our rendition, developed by chef and C-CAP recipe developer, Emily Caraballo! Grab the recipe and video tutorial here!
C-CAP Across the Country
C-CAP STUDENTS HOLD A WORLD RECORD
Paramount Plus invited our Los Angeles students to Smorgasbord where they broke the Guinness World Record for the largest serving of nachos! Congratulations to the 14 students from Browning High School for making nacho history.
SOUS VIDE FOR PHILADELPHIA SCHOOLS
Now C-CAP Philadelphia students and teachers get to practice the fine craft of sous-vide. Thank you, Dash Sous Vide, for your generous gift!
C-CAP PARTNERS WITH BARCLAYS
This month, C-CAP Philadelphia has been selected to work with Barclays Bank as part of their Virtual Solutions Session! Through their work with the Taproot Foundation, we’ll work with a team of Barclays employees to assist us in bringing one of our projects to life.
We’re grateful for their support and enthusiasm and know this experience will help us expand our funding opportunities in the city of Philadelphia to improve programming for our students and teachers!
STUDENTS GEAR UP TO VOLUNTEER
WITH L.A.’S BEST RESTAURANTS
C-CAP Los Angeles students are teaming up with chefs from Los Angeles favorites like Redbird, Kismet, Mozza, Howlin’ Ray’s, and Slab and volunteering at the Cal Spirit, LA’s fabled food and wine tasting. C-CAP students are also volunteering with the LA Chef Conference — C-CAP is their charity partner —and getting some real-world event experience!
Ways to Give
Impact the lives of our students every month by becoming a C-CAPtain, our monthly giving program. We’ll send you an autographed copy of chef Marcus Samuelsson’s latest cookbook, The Rise, as token of our thanks, and add your name to our C-Captain website page!
