Beyond Cooking: The Ann B. Zekauskas Food Styling Competition for C-CAP 2023-24

Competition Details

Competition Timeline: Entry period is  from December 4, 2023 to Monday, March 4 at midnight PST. Ten Finalists will be announced on March 11 with the People’s Choice Award votes solicited at that time. The four winners will be announced on March 18, all on Instagram. The prize money can be used for any expense. 

Competition Subject: An original cookie that reflects your heritage. It can be sweet or savory. It should use seasonal ingredients if possible and be affordable. 

How to Enter: 

  1. Post three and only three styled photos of your cookie to your Instagram account.
  2. Include a caption with: the name of the cookie, a description of the cookie, why you made it, how it reflects your heritage and how and why you chose to style it the way you did. 
  3. Tag @ccapinc and @zekauskasfamily and use the hashtags #ccapfoodstyling #foodstyling.

Entry Requirements:

  • Students must be in C-CAP-affiliated school classes 
  • Students must enter on IG AS WELL AS fill out the Google Form
  • Students must complete all tasks: 3 photos, a full caption, tags and hashtags and entering via the form as well
  • The recipe must be original–one you created yourself and not from a printed or online source.
  • The student must have taken the photo

Judging Criteria:

  • The cookie in the three photos must look delicious, with seasonality and affordability a plus
  • It should be styled to reflect the student’s personality and heritage
  • All relevant information on the Google Form must be submitted as well as posting on IG
  • Include the cookie name, the two hashtags, a full caption, and how it reflects your heritage 

Scoring: 10 is a perfect score

Winners: There will be four winners, three selected by the judges and one selected by the audience on IG. The 10 finalists photos will be posted on the C-CAP Instagram and the photo that receives the most votes in a 5-day time period will win the People’s Choice Award. (Please note: The People’s Choice could end up going to one of the three judges picks):

  • 1st prize = $2000
  • 2nd prize = $1500
  • 3rd prize = $1000 
  • The People’s Choice Prize =  $500
