Beyond Cooking: The Ann B. Zekauskas Food Styling Competition for C-CAP 2024-25

Calling all C-CAP students, Beyond Cooking: The Ann B. Zekauskas Food Styling Competition for C-CAP is back again and now open for entries. This year our subject is SANDWICHES! Come up with your own original, unpublished sandwich recipe and submit three styled photos along with a caption. Four winners will get cash to use for any expense. Your sandwich can be a pita wrap, panini, kati roll, torta, hoagie…the list goes on! Get creative with your recipe and food styling to reflect your personality and style.  Special thanks to the Ann B. Zekauskas Family Foundation for sponsoring the video series and competition.

Your entry will be judged on:

  1. The styling and photography of the dish.
  2. The recipe and photos must be original, unpublished, and non AI-generated. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
  3. Your caption: tell us why this recipe and photos reflect who you are. The caption must include the sandwich name; the two competition hashtags: #CCAPFoodStyling #ABZFF; and the two competition handles: @ccapinc and @zekauskasfamily

PRIZES

  1. First prize: $2,000
  2. Second prize: $1,500
  3. Third prize: $1000
  4. People’s Choice: $500

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  1. Please limit your entry to one sandwich recipe.
  2. Upload the three photos and the caption to the Competition Survey Monkey form. You MUST fill out the entirety of the form or your entry will be disqualified.
  3. Upload one photo of your mise en place/set-up. This photo is only to verify the authenticity of your competition submission and will not be included in the judging of the competition. You must submit this photo to qualify for the competition.
  4. We encourage you to post the three styled photos along with a caption on Instagram, but it is not required. Remember, in order to be considered for the competition, you must fill out the Competition Form. Instagram-only submissions alone are incomplete.
  5. Use of AI tools such as ChatGPT for the creation of your photos and caption is forbidden. Your entry will be disqualified and you will be barred from participating in future C-CAP cooking competitions. Remember to submit the mise en place/set-up photo to verify the authenticity of your submission.

TIMELINE

  • Thursday, Nov. 7: Competition Launch
  • Monday, February 24: Final Week to Enter
  • Monday, March 3 midnight PST: Final Day to Enter
  • Monday, March 10: 3 Winners Announced
  • Tuesday, March 11: People’s Choice Voting begins among remaining 8
  • Tuesday, March 18:  People’s Choice announced
