COVID-19 Program Updates
In the face of the COVID-19 crisis, we have pivoted to digital programming, and remain as committed as ever to empowering underserved youth through culinary arts:
We’ve partnered with the online culinary learning platform Rouxbe so that our students can continue their culinary education. Curious about Rouxbe? Reach out to our program directors to learn how you can get involved. C-CAP and Rouxbe have worked together before the crisis, and we have brought on schools as they need the software. Rouxbe uses high definition videos, world-class instructors, peer support and interactive assignments to teach students techniques and concepts in the kitchen.
C-CAP Philadelphia and C-CAP Los Angeles are hosting an on-going virtual “Meet-the-Chef” series on Instagram Live so that students can tune in and learn from nationally-lauded chefs every week. Some of the chef participants have included Monti Carlo (Everything Food, Make This Tonight, & Ramsay Redemption), Ari Miller (Musi), Mykel Winterstine (Punjab Grill), and Sherry Yard (The Great American Baking Show).
In other news: C-CAP Cooking Competition for Scholarships were awarded nation-wide! Five C-CAP locations were unable to host the final, so these students were awarded scholarships based on a combination of their preliminary scores and applications. Congratulations to these rising graduates!
